Dementia prevention information for Health Professionals

This section of the Mind your Mind website is designed to provide health professionals with up to date and practical information about preventative health strategies that are associated with reduced dementia risk.

Information about modifiable risk and protective factors for dementia is provided.  Each section explains the evidence for the association of that factor with dementia risk and provides a practical guide to the resources available to health professionals to assist them to work with their patients to address factors of concern.  The aim is to provide health professionals with a quick reference source to enable them to offer strategies to patients for maintaining their cognitive health and reducing their dementia risk.  As many of the risk factors for dementia overlap with those for heart disease and other chronic conditions that can be addressed by preventative health, existing clinical guidelines and other available resources and links to these are provided.

The information can be downloaded in PDF format at the dementia risk reduction guidelines page.  Two guides are provided, one specifically for General Practitioners and one for other health and lifestyle professionals.  Or the information can be read online at the following pages.
