How much and what type of foods do you need to eat to reduce your risk of dementia? We don’t yet have enough evidence to answer this question definitively. However, the good news is that research suggests the foods that are good for your heart and body also seem to be beneficial for brain health and protecting against dementia.

- Fruits, vegetables and legumes
- Wholegrain breads, cereals, rice and pasta
- Fish, lean meat or soy foods
- Low fat dairy or soy foods
Foods to avoid:
- Fatty meat and processed meats
- Cakes, biscuits and pastries
- Butter
